Printers cause a disproportionate amount of frustration for how simple they're supposed to be — mostly because a printer problem is rarely just about the printer. A new computer replaces an old one and nobody reinstalled the printer software. A router gets swapped and every wireless device on the old network, printer included, quietly falls off. A "wireless" printer was set up over USB years ago and never actually joined the WiFi at all. Sorting out which one of those is actually happening is most of the fix.
